What data the app processes
| Data | Purpose | Legal basis | Where | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Photos you pick in the Android photo picker or share to ImageShrink. The app sees no other photos. | Making them smaller, compressing them or changing the format, only on your phone. The originals are never changed. | Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR | On your device | The app keeps no copy of the originals |
| New, smaller files | Showing the result. They are saved only when you tap Save: in Pictures/ImageShrink (your gallery) or in a folder you choose. | Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR | On your device | In the app cache until you tap "Compress more", 24 hours at the latest. Saved files stay until you delete them. |
| Photo details (metadata) such as location, date and camera model (optional) | "Remove photo details" is on by default and removes them from the new files. If you switch it off, selected details including the GPS location are copied into the new files. | Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR | On your device | As long as the new file exists |
| Settings: recently used settings, your presets, design, file name ending and, if you choose one, the save folder with the folder access you granted (optional) | Remembering your choices | Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR | On your device | Until you clear the app storage or uninstall the app |
| Purchase check: a checksum (SHA-256) of the purchase token and the time of the last confirmation by Google Play (optional) | Pro also works offline | Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR | On your device | Until you clear the app storage or uninstall the app |
| Ads in the free version: advertising ID, app set ID and other device identifiers, IP address (from which an approximate location can be derived), interactions such as app starts, taps and ad views, and technical data about the app, the device and how the ads perform | Showing ads, measuring them and preventing fraud; personalised ads only with your consent where the law requires it. Not in your first session and never with Pro. | Where consent is required (EU/EEA, UK, Switzerland): your consent, Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and § 25 (1) TDDDG; otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest: financing the free version) | At an external service: Google AdMob | Google decides how long it keeps this data. According to Google, it removes part of the IP address from advertising data in server logs after 9 months and cookie information after 18 months. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in the Android settings. |
| Consent question for ads: IP address and technical data about the app and the device | Finding out whether consent is needed where you are and showing Google's consent form | Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR with Art. 7 (1) GDPR and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (asking for consent where the law requires it) | At an external service: Google User Messaging Platform | Google decides how long it keeps this data |
| Your ad choices (consent status, stored in the IAB TCF format where consent is required) (optional) | Remembering your choice and passing it to the ad service with every ad request | Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR with Art. 7 (1) GDPR (proof of consent) | On your device | Until you change your choice, clear the app storage or uninstall the app |
| Ad counters: number of app starts and finished tasks, time and day of the last full-screen ad | Keeping ads rare: none in your first session, full-screen ads at most after every third task, at most one per session and two per day | Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest: few, predictable ads) | On your device | Until you clear the app storage or uninstall the app |
| Order details of a purchase: order number, product, price, country or region, time. No payment details. (optional) | Handling the purchase; we see these details in the Google Play Console for bookkeeping and for questions about your purchase | Art. 6 (1) (b) and (c) GDPR | At an external service: Google Play Billing Library | In the Google Play Console as long as Google keeps them there; records we need for tax purposes as long as tax law requires (in Germany up to 10 years) |
| Payment details (optional) | Paying through Google Play | Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR | At an external service: Google Play Billing Library | Kept by Google under its own responsibility |
| E-mails you send us (the contact button opens your own mail app): your address and your message (optional) | Answering you | Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR | At an external service: ALL-INKL.COM | Until your request is settled, unless the law requires us to keep it longer |

Export and backups
ImageShrink creates new, smaller copies of your photos. They are saved only when you tap Save, in Pictures/ImageShrink (your gallery) or in a folder you choose. You can share them through the Android share menu; the app you pick receives the files. Your originals are never changed.
Android backup is switched on for the app settings and presets only, not for photos or the purchase check. It is your own backup in your Google account and the transfer to a new phone; we have no access to it. You can switch it off in the Android settings.

Ads
The ads are delivered by the ad service listed under "External services".
Ads appear only in the free version and never in your first session: a banner labelled "Ad" on the result screen below the list of photos and, rarely, a full-screen ad after you tap "Compress more" (at most after every third finished task, at least 4 minutes apart, at most one per session and two per day, never when you opened ImageShrink by sharing photos to it). There are no ads on the screens where you pick photos, choose settings or wait for the result. Ad content is limited to the rating "PG".
Before an ad loads, the app asks Google's User Messaging Platform whether consent is needed where you are (EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland). If so, it shows Google's consent form, where you can accept, refuse or choose single purposes. If you refuse, Google may still show ads that are not personalised (limited ads), as far as your choices allow.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time in the app under Settings > "Privacy choices for ads" (the row appears where consent is required). Withdrawing does not affect processing that happened before. You can also reset or delete the advertising ID in the Android settings.
Pro removes all ads. After the purchase the app no longer starts the ad SDK, so no more data is sent for ads.
The app is meant for people aged 16 and over and is not directed at children. Ad requests are not marked as directed at children.
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Google Play. We do not receive your payment details.
Google Play tells the app what you bought (for example an order number and the item), so the app can unlock it.
How long we keep data and how to delete it
How long each kind of data is kept is listed in the table above.
How to remove the data from your device: Delete data in ImageShrink.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data (Art. 15 GDPR), to have it corrected (Art. 16), deleted (Art. 17) or restricted (Art. 18), to receive it in a portable format (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (Art. 21).
Where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. To use your rights, email info@farusone.com.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the authority where you live.
Changes
We update this policy when the app or the way it processes data changes. The version and date at the top show the current version.
